What Does Herbert Marcuse Have to Do With Your Love Life?
#2 In a Series
How did this happen? How did we arrive in this place, where women are truly suffering in isolation, risking becoming totally erased, as a result of the feminist movement?
I’ve found answers in examination of several revolutionaries who applied Marxism to social theory, particularly from the Frankfurt School. “These were depressives who wore full suits in 80 degree weather while living in a house by the beach” the narrator says in my favorite video on this topic. He was describing their arrival in sparkling Santa Monica, CA in the 1950s, to establish critical theory, a mission to destroy meaning in society and culture by criticizing everyone and everything, everywhere.
This clique covertly created a “super-cool” scarcity-marketing tactic rooted in rejection and destruction. They were either (dangerously) ignored, or attracted the attention of people who needed to work on their self-esteem and contemplate “The Emperor’s New Clothes."
I find it empowering to examine these covert manipulators within the timeline of my life, and the lives of those who brought me into the world. I encourage you (and all women) to do this, to recover a sense of reverence for your precious life in the context of the creeps who have attempted to destroy it. I encourage you to learn the real background of your ancestors, and this country, through people - a compelling way to learn history. While single and captured, I took the culturally Marxist feminism bait pushed to the forefront by one Herbert Marcuse, for decades, without ever knowing his name.
Herbert Marcuse rose to popularity as a professor in academia in the late 1960s, while my parents were dating. The seeds he planted have bloomed over my lifetime. Marcuse’s ambitious appointments at Columbia, Harvard, and UC San Diego, alongside his rigorous international press and lecture tours, advanced the agendas he proposed. Christopher Rufo’s book, America’s Cultural Revolution, unpacks the damage. In it, he examines Marcuse’s “brand” of critical theory, also called “the power of negative thinking.”
Marcuse was born in Germany in 1898, two years after my paternal grandfather, Patrick, was born. Patrick immigrated from Westport, Ireland via Liverpool, and ended up in Chicago, where he met my grandmother Marie Malone, who also happened to be from Westport. Marcuse entered the US on Independence Day, 1934, when my father was six months old in the little house on the Northwest side of Chicago where Patrick and Marie settled down. My father met my mother at work, and while they honeymooned in 1968, Marcuse celebrated the 20 year anniversary of The Guardian in New York City. His co-host Bernadine Dohrn would eventually start the Weather Underground terrorist organization, founded at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
My parents settled down in Chicago, and by the time my older sibling was an infant in late 1969, groups working under Marcuse’s supervision had ensured 4,330 bombings in the US, resulting in forty-three deaths, for absolutely no good reason. Marcuse had been christened the “grandfather of the new left” ushering in “a dictatorship of the intellectuals” which would require censorship, repression and violence.
By the time I was born in 1972, Marcuse and his movement had failed. But the seeds were planted. Even if unconsciously, they bloom in citizens and cities today. My grandparents and parents probably paid very little attention to Marcuse at that time, but his ideological grandchildren are in school systems influencing their biological great-grandchildren and grandchildren. Not just in this country, but all over the world. Incidentally, this week in Ireland there will be a vote to write the words “women” and “motherhood” out of their Constitution, reducing mothering to “caring” in the name of progressive feminism, stripping rights and provision of care for work in the home once enshrined in the Irish Constitution.1 They call this the removal of “sexist” language.
Sanity break: Mothering is not “caring”. Mothering is mothering. It is uniquely different from caring, and involves scientifically proven biological bonding processes and should be protected. Is this a good time to remind everyone that even Betty Friedan urged us, in The Feminine Mystique, to accept and empower those who chose to stay home?
In America’s Cultural Revolution Rufo writes, “Marcuse’s theory, outlined in his book Eros and Civilization, (was) that sexual and political liberation were intertwined.” That makes it less baffling to consider parents protesting pornographic books at local Council meetings. They are muted for inappropriate content if they read from them aloud, but Marxist administrators keep those very same books in middle school libraries, in the name of political liberation.
By 2012, when I met my husband, I was still under the “Hope and Change” spell. I missed Andrew Breitbart’s now-famous speech at CPAC that year, when he said, “there are two paths, one is America, the other one is occupy”. In that speech, he effortlessly placed Bernadine Dohrn at the center of Obama’s well-funded, authoritarian mission. Bernadine, Marcuse’s 1968 co-host and devotee, is another unelected revolutionary who inflicts her now-rebranded ideology upon us today (still the same destructive critical theory). Breitbart, (before he died suddenly) was the bellwether of everything I couldn’t see, because it was just so uncool to see it and call it out. I began unpacking this ideology with clarity by 2020 - all because I’m the kind of person who barely takes an aspirin and didn’t want an injected, experimental shot.
Culturally Marxist movements form capillaries to the major artery of an agenda to alter and destroy humanity. This is accomplished through money laundering and blackmail in cartel-like, non-government agencies that collude with government, which innocents unconsciously revive through donations, and by falling in line with “accepted, approved” narratives.
Jordan Hall calls this “the Blue Church” in his essay from 2017. Innocent citizens provide invisible protection through denial, and uninvestigated compliance. Micro-focus feeds that denial. Citizens focused on “sides”, blaming other citizens (instead of installed public servants, unelected "leaders" and dubious three letter agencies) provide a protective, cognitive hedge for those who hate humanity, our country and true freedom.
Cultural Marxists rely on citizen denial because it fortifies unexamined “belief” in them. Citizen denial is their protection, and they count on it.
They also rely on the judgement and denigration of people like me, because smearing curious people fortifies accepted avoidance of the whole story. And it’s important to note, I am not complaining or seeking sympathy. Getting canceled and dismissed has been the BEST thing that has ever happened to me. I am a painfully oversensitive soul, to the point that I even bother myself, and rejection has granted me a spectacular education. It has ushered in a re-orientation to God and upgraded my life in every area. Fear of dismissal and judgement from going public with my work or perspective has been reduced to occasional, mild, distraction. I am fortified by the truth, which is that I am standing up to a movement that accomplishes pure evil.
Cultural Marxism and reliance on the state will always stand for death through “Blue Church” rituals that covertly require sacrifice, accomplished by manipulation.
Here are three examples of sacrifices through manipulation, which is nonreciprocal influence at the expense of another person2.
One’s body (in the form of seductive, covert, or mandated medical intervention)
One’s offspring (in the name of “choice”)
One’s faithful trust in the provisions of God’s abundant creation (in the name of climate “crisis”).
Isabella 283, was living in an unmanageable situation with a bully. A gifted, sensitive artist and empath, she had indecisively moved and reduced her life according to the bully’s demands, which were without common sense. This was to shrink her “carbon imprint.” The measures this poor woman had taken to get rid of her car for urban bicycle commutes that terrified her, and to give up reasonable lifestyle amenities, were heartbreaking. I validated her right to consider the declaration signed by 1600 scientists who refuse the conclusion of a climate “crisis.”
Instead of facing the reality that her boyfriend was an arrogant control freak wielding power over her in the name of a phony crisis, she woke up every morning thinking she was the problem. Their entire life was on her dime. While her artwork was popular and lucrative, she used her robust trust fund for “life expenses.” I probed and learned that her unemployed boyfriend’s lavish taste for vegan super-foods and specialty items, along with healing retreats and “activism expenses” required her trust fund. Much older than her, he even pulled the plug on her desire to marry and have children in the name of the agenda, having had a vasectomy as an activist response to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
When she brought up economic issues with him, he would give “dharma talks” (long lectures) on her need to “evolve beyond personal attachment to money.” She actually hired me to help “face” her “privilege” and “stubborn, spoiled nature.” I listened and displayed shock at the details. Her water pressure was awful in a luxury apartment because the bully insisted on installing a mechanism (that she paid for) to reduce the use of water. I shared that while I grew up in privilege myself, my parents demonstrated Olympic-level stamina for allowing me to make my own mistakes, and therefore, I also have lived in a van. I do not attach a moral equivalent to any particular economic status, especially if it just happens to be a factor in one’s origin story.
I asked her if we could agree that she happened to be born in this body, to a wealthy family, at this time, and it was for a reason. I touched the wound when I asked her if dodging urban traffic on her bicycle was an unconscious punishment for being born rich, and she started crying. She began unpacking the distorted and possibly toxic bond with her boyfriend because of his looks, his agile body and their “mind blowing sex.” After our sessions, she sought counseling that illuminated comparisons to her icy father. This is an example of a gap I enthusiastically occupy with women who need help. Isabella had avoided counseling because that icy father was a psychiatrist who had pathologized her while growing up. My contribution was pointing out the harm in avoiding the very thing she needed, and providing support in choosing appropriate care.
True Liberation
As a result, Isabella dumped the bully and celebrated the bullet she dodged by seeing the truth about him and the movement he used to control her. We laughed when she followed up by telling me that she had dropped a recyclable item into the trash and felt she moved a mountain. It led to a heartfelt shared contemplation that activating OCD in good-hearted souls who become compulsive about “climate incentives” is a very real thing. Then she asked me if I had heard about Bill Gates ruining his reputation in India. “Oh honey, come sit by me,” I wrote back, and received laughing emojis.
Many may not be conscious of the consent they give to evil creeps like Bill Gates. In truth, the repulsive reality of “leaders” (who would not ever receive public approval through an accurate majority vote to place them in power) is hidden in plain sight, like the symbolism they use to hypnotize and trap citizens. Once you see it, you cannot go back - the toothpaste will be out of the tube.
Break Free
Singles, once you dig deeper into “Blue Church” narratives that are not helping you to find friendship and love, (and in fact may be advancing your isolation) you will probably be able to recognize the men in your area who are smeared by the media machine that delivers this agenda. (Maybe you’ll even marry one.)
Where were your parents or grandparents in 1968? How has complying with the “cool kids” eroded your trust in God and your gut? Start looking inside, and looking into the history of your people. Reclaim the inner spiritual and instinctive territory that has been stolen from you.4
Hopeful Result of the vote in Ireland, refusing an amendment to write the word “women” out of the Constitution: 73% voted no
